The foundamental principle on the measurement of density distribution of liners is presented in this paper. The measurement is based on the detection of γ-rays passing through the liner of shaped charge used in petroleum production. The measured results were compared with those from the penetration test

and a good agreement was observed. The technique is therefore useful for improving the liner’s manufacture and raising quality of the shaped charge .
