Experiments both on the vertical distribution of radon in shallow soil and on the lateral extension of radon at depths of 20
40 and 60 cm
were carried out. It is found that the mechanism of radon transportation from deep to shallow soil is changeable and many factors may disturb the radon measurement. A comprehensive correcting factor D was introduced and its evaluation and application were described.
