Serum osteocalcin in 46 patients with osteal disorders was tested using radioimmunoassay (RIA).In some of cases
their forearm bone mineral density and serum AKP
calcimn and phosphorus were determined
and compared with osteocalcin. As a result
the osteocalcin level was higher than the normal controls in serum of 32 patients with primary osteoporosis(P<0.01)
7 patients with primary hyperparathyroidism(P<0.01)and 2 patients with chronic renal insufficiency(P<0.05).Therefore serum osteocalcin and bone mineral density deterfornation have some value for the diagnosis of osteoporotic diseases.
