Abnormal resPOnse of E’ center of quartz in coastal aeolian sand to irradiation dose has been observed. The abnormalities occur in most（>90%） of more than 100 measured samples born the coastal areas of China. It is suggested that the abnormal response of E’ center to irradistinn dose be used as an indicstot tO identify coastal aeolian sand.
