Perovskite- type nanocrystalline materials LaFeO3 with different crystal sizes were synthesized. These samples with different compacting pressure were investigated by Mossbauer spectroscopy at room temperature. The results showed that the 70nm LaFeO3 crystals possessed an antiferromagnetic structure
and those of 12.4nm was a superposition of a weaker antiferromag- netic structure and a stronger superparamagnetic structure. The ratio of interface to crystal atoms and the hyperfine field in nanocrystals varied with compacting pressure. The results of rotating anode X- ray diffraction showed that the phenomena such as smashing
contact zone formation and dislocation occurred for the samples under a compacting pressure of 0.5
