The isothermal oxidation behavior in air environment at 900℃ for Nb~+ implanted Ti-48at% Al alloy treated by different post-implantation annealing was investigated. The influence of annealing upon the distribution of Nb and the oxide surface morphology were analyzed by AES and SEM respectively. The experimental results exhibited that the proper post-implantation annealing could further improve the oxidation resistance of the implanted specimens
and this effect was probably due to the diminishing of lattice damages induced by ion implantation and the redistribution of the implanted and matrix elements.
