In order to avoid dead time problems in the detector system
the knife-edge made of polymethyl methacrylate is used as a scatterer. By using the backscattered spectrum from the knife-edge
the space distribution of the X-rays with different energies in the beam focused by the polycapillary X-ray lens
and the energy dependence of the focal spot size
divergence and output focal distance of the lens are measured over a broad energy range at the same time. The halo effect is analyzed in detail. Compared with the results from the existing method
the relative er- rors of the results for the focal spot size obtained by using the backscatter method are within 3%. Absolute errors of the measured output focal distance range from –120 to 120μm.
