This paper reported 20 cases of joint imaging in active Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) by using 99mTc labeled human immunoglobulin G(HIG)

16 of which were compared with 99mTc-MDP. Abnormal images were found in 99mTc-HIG imaging of all patients

showing increased uptake in inflammatory synovial membranes of joint capsules. The concordance of 99mTc-HIG imaging with clinical findings was much better than that of 99mTc-MAP bone imaging. Significant correlation was found between clinical score with image score

as well as uptake score of radionuclide with clinical symptoms (including pain or swelling) of the joints involved (P<0.01). It was concluded that 99mTc-HIG joint imaging was a simple

safe

noninvasive and objective method for early detection of RA. It can also demonstrate synovitis and assess of lammatory activity in involved joint. By the way the diagnostic value of 99mTc-HIG seems better than 99mTc- MDP bone imaging.
