cases of cholecystic cancer and 205 cases of benign gall bladder diseases measured by CA 242 and CA19-9 immunoassay were reported. Sensitivity of CA 242 and CA19-9 was 84.2% and 94.7%
specificity was 94.6% and 72.7%
and concordance rate was 93.8 % and 74.6%
respectively. Therefore
specificity and concor-dance rate of CA 242 immunoassay was better than CA19-9. It has also been specially investigated the influence of hyperbilirubinemia on results of CA 242 and CA19-9 measurements. By measurements of the serum in patients of chronic liver diseases with jaundice
and also the combined measurement of both serum and bile in patients with gall bladder diseases
it was demonstrated that hyperbilirubinemia greatly affects the results of CA19-9 and therefore plays a main role for its false positivity
but has less effect on CA 242 determination. Thereby
when judging its clinical results
we must pay special attention to hyperbilirubinemia.
