In this paper

operational principle of the pinch-reflex ion diode is analyzed

effects of various pinch-reflex ion diode parameters on beam electrical parameters are studied. From a large number of experiments

the peak ion current of 2.1 kA and ion beam energy of 5.5 J with a pulse width of about 20 ns are obtained

with the best ion current generation efficiency being 6.2 %.
