Abstract

The counting efficiency of Cerenkov radiation of

P in water by liquid scintillation counter is around 30%. The main advantage of this measuring method is that no chemical quenching problems occur during the counting. This simple fact makes it possible to prepare samples freely and easily. No scintillation solution was used

so that its cost might be reduced. Now it has been taken into account more often and is popularized rapidly. Some factors of affecting Cerenkov radiation counting such as volume

solvent and etc. were discussed in this paper. Quenching correction methods and wavelength shifters with their application and mechanism. —— the two mportant problems that are most concerned in this field

were also discussed.
