In this paper

a rapid and simple method for determination of potassium in soil is reported. It is high sensitive

less interfering with wide range of determination etc.

The content of potassium found by this method

can easily be used to estimate the quantity and

β

-radioactivity of

40

K. It offers the essential data for the measurement of total β-intensity (subtract the contribution of

40

K) in the monitoring of environmental radioactivity.

The recovery

include the treatment of the sample

is 98—105%

and the coefficient of variation (RSD) is 0.8%. The results given by three different methods (AAS

FS and TPB) are almost identical

the deviation is within 10%. It indicated that this method is dependable and applicable to routine analysis.

It can be used to determine potassium of other environmental samples.
