Damage characteristics of selective laser melted 304L stainless steel under Xe ion irradiation
“In the field of materials science, researchers compared and analyzed the microstructure and hardness changes of 304L stainless steel formed by selective laser melting and traditional process rolling after Xe ion irradiation using transmission electron microscopy and nanoindentation instrument. Research has found that the dislocation loops and Xe bubble number density of SLM 304L stainless steel are lower than those of TM 304L stainless steel, but its Xe bubble size is about three times that of TM 304L stainless steel. After irradiation, both materials showed hardening phenomenon, among which the irradiation hardening degree of SLM 304L stainless steel was lower than that of TM 304L stainless steel. Through the calculation of the dispersion strengthening model, it is confirmed that dislocation loops and Xe bubbles are the main factors causing material hardening.”
