Study on spectrum stabilization technique for a portable LaBr3(Ce) gamma spectrometer
“In the field of gamma spectroscopy analysis, scientists have developed a portable gamma spectrometer stabilization technique based on LaBr3 (Ce) detector, effectively suppressing the "spectral line drift" caused by environmental changes in the detector. This technology utilizes the 36 keV characteristic peak in the detector's own background spectrum and the 1460 keV characteristic peak in the natural background spectrum at 40K as stable spectrum reference peaks. A custom spectral correlation formula is used to measure the correlation between the measured energy spectrum and the standard background spectrum, and a method is proposed to combine the correlation between the reference peak and the energy spectrum for stable spectrum. The experimental results show that within the temperature range of -30~50 ℃, this stable spectrum method does not require pre calibration of the relationship curve between the reference peak and temperature, and can effectively prevent the occurrence of erroneous stable spectra in the presence of interfering nuclides. In addition, it ensures that the peak drift of the reference peak is stable within ± 1 channel in the case of sudden changes in temperature rate exceeding 50 ℃ ⋅ h-1.”
