Design of the neutron dosimeter based on neutron sphere spectrometer
Background: In neutron radiation protection applications
the spectrometric neutron dosimeter has almost isotropic response and can cover the energy from thermal to GeV neutrons
and the radiation filed information such as neutron spectrum and neutron dose can be calculated more accurately. Purpose: A spectrometric neutron dosimeter which has high precision and high counting rate is developed. Methods: By optimizing the parameters of the readout circuit
the position resolution of the detector system is improved and the geometric division of the spherical moderate is more accurate. Using digital pulse processing technology
the dead-time of the system is reduced. Results: The position resolution of the neutron dosimeter has good linearity
and the average resolution is about 6 mm. The high counting rate of the data acquisition system is 200 k?s?1. Conclusion: We developed a neutron dosimeter based on neutron sphere spectrometer which has high position resolution and high counting rate. The performance of the dosimeter is expected to be improved for further optimization design after the test in the radiation field. Abstract
