Preparation of RGO/FeOOH aerogels and its adsorption for U(VI)
Background: Three-dimensional (3D) graphene nano-composite had been widely investigated for its excellent physical and chemical properties. Purpose: The aim is to study the adsorption of U(VI). Methods: 3D reduced graphene oxide RGO/FeOOH nano-composite was synthesized via self-assembly under the reduction of Fe(II) ion. Results: The absorption capacity of RGO/FeOOH was highly dependent on the pH values. When pH was 5.5
the adsorption capacity could rise to 115 mg?g?1 whereas the NaClO4 has no effect on the adsorption capacity of the composite. The adsorption isotherms of U(VI) of the RGO/FeOOH composite could be described well by the dual-site Langmuir model. In the ion-selective study
we found that RGO/FeOOH had good selectivity to U(VI) and Pb(II). Conclusion: This material can be used to remove heavy ions in radioactive waste water. Abstract
