The chemical procedure of preparing BeO used in AMS is reported. With EDTA as shielding reagents
different ions are precipitated at different pH values to purify Be which is then converted to BeO at high temperature. A set of BeO samples including Jilin meteorite
ocean sediment
Mn-ncdule and blank have been prepared for use. For the blank the ratio 10Be/9Be is measured to be 1.1×10-15
a bit higher than that of Zurich ETH and Pennsylvania
and lower than that of other laboratories. The results show that the interference of 10B in our samples is negligible and the chemical processes of making BeO samples are therefore successful.
