Gamma ray self-absorption correction for cylindrical volume-sources is described. Four kinds of solution were prepared
with densities of 1.0
1.25
1.50 and 1.83g/cm3 respectively. From each solution six sources with different thicknesses were made. The Gamma ray energies used were between 122.1 keV and 1332.5 keV. The self-absorption correction factors were determined. They were consistent well with the results of theoretical calculation within an error of about 5%. The efficiency curves for cylindrical volume-sources with various thicknesses were drawn by the least square method. The optimal thickness for cylindrical volume-sources was given.
