An ion implantation system based on a 30 keV mini-separator has been set up and tested at Fudan University. With the system up to some ten μA/cm2 of ion beam current of rare-earth elements such as Y

Nd and Yb
have been obtained. The modification of corrosion resistance for an Y ion implanted stainless steel sample has also been investigated.
