Neutrons are the main shielding object for the heavy ion interaction. In this paper
the concrete shielding thickness of neutrons generated from the medium energy heavy ion interaction were calculated
for a sample of a thick Cu target bombarded with a beam of 100MeV/amu 12C ions at intensity of 4×1011 ions/s. Starting with calculating the neutron multiplicity and accounting for the angular distribution of emitted neutrons
the shielding thickness for different beam current was calcalated.
