A target sample preparation technique is reported for 10Be determination by 2 × 6 MV tandem accelerator mass spectrometry(AMS) in SINR. Due to the high price of 17O enriched water and in order to meet with success in making Be17O
18O enriched water is used to make Be18O as a test. Be is extracted as Be(OH)2 from the original sample with EDTA as shielding reagents and various ions are precipitated at different pH values- The natural 16O in Be(OH)2 is replaced through exchange by18Oin H218O. Be(18OH)2 is then converted to Be18O at high temperature in vacuum. The exchange efficiency is 49.6%.
