The rose quartz is a gemstone of quartz family minerals. Three dimension thermoluminescence spectra of rose quartz and wall rock quartz from in Altay
Xinjiang were analyzed. The 3D TL spectra of rose quartz have two low temperature TL peaks at 480 nm and 630 nm at 170°C
but only one peak at 480 nm is seen in wall rock quartz. The TL peak at 480 nm is related to hypogene magmatism and its luminescence centre is probably (AlO4)0 on a Si site
which indicate that rose quartz were formed by hypogene magmatism. The TL peak at 630 nm and 170°C appears to be characteristic of the rose quartz and is proposed to be due to [FeO4]0 center from the substitutional incorporation of Fe3+ into the quartz lattice. An intense TL peak at 990 nm and 330°C is also detected in both rose quartz and wall rock quartz.
