Mutation effect of ion implantation on tomato breeding
The mutation effects of N+ ion implantation on cultivated tomato
Catchup type and Eatable type were studied. The result showed that the mutation ranges of single-fruit weight and fruit number per plant were increased and their mutation frequencies were high
however the effect of ion implantation on germination rate of seed and quality of fruit was very weak. Using doses of 4×1016 and 6×1016 N+/cm2
the yield was greatly improved. The optimum mutation dosage was slightly different for seed of 2 tomato lines.
