Abstract

A simple and safe method is described to detect the radioactivity leakage from the stainless-steel shelled high-level cobalt-60 sources in water well. The source checked is placed in a small special sealable sampling can filled with water. After being kept a few days

the water in sampling can is pumped out and assayed. Since even a weak leakage from the source can result in a significant enhancement of activity concentration in sampling water

it makes the detection quite sensitive.
