Abstract

A bragg curve spectrograph for heavy ion identification was reported. It is a gaseous ionization chamber with the electric field parallel to the particle track and with the full stopping of the incident particle. It was tested with a ThC-C

α source and a

252

Cf source. The energy resolution is well below 1% for 8.785 MeV α particle (ThC'α source). The obtained charge resolving power is Z/∆Z=50.
